How to Add Your OpenAI API Key to Plasfy AI Graphics Factory (Version 3)

Modified on Wed, 16 Apr at 3:08 PM

Why Does It Say “Account Not Active” in Plasfy AI Graphics Factory (Version 3)?

Short answer: You haven’t added your OpenAI API key yet.

Want the Easy Option? Use Version 2 Instead

If all this sounds a bit too complicated, no worries — you can use Version 2 of the AI Graphics Factory instead.
It works right away, doesn’t require an OpenAI key, and still supports image generation.

Just go to: https://app.aigraphicsfactory.com/

If You’re Using Version 3, Here’s Exactly What To Do

Version 3 of the AI Graphics Factory gives you more control, better image generation, and faster speed. But to make it work, you need to:

  1. Register a Version 3 account

  2. Add your OpenAI API key

  3. Make sure your OpenAI account has billing set up (so it works)

Step 1: Register for an Account (Version 3)

Visit this page to create your account:
Register Here

Even if you already have a Plasfy account, you’ll need to register again separately for AI Graphics Factory Version 3.

Step 2: Set Up Your OpenAI Account

  1. Go to https://platform.openai.com

  2. Sign up or log in to your account

  3. In the top right, click your profile icon > “Manage account”

  4. Go to Billing and add your credit or debit card

    • This is required — without it, your key won’t work

    • You’ll only be charged based on how much you use the AI

Step 3: Create Your OpenAI API Key

Video Tutorial - How To Get Your API Key

  1. Go back to your profile icon and click “API Keys”

  2. Click “Create new secret key”

  3. Copy the key somewhere safe (you won’t be able to see it again later)

Step 4: Add the API Key to Your Plasfy Account

Now that you have your key, here’s how to link it to Plasfy:

  1. Go to: https://ai.plasfy.com/admin/profile

  2. Scroll down to the “Password” section

  3. Right underneath it, you’ll see a box to enter your OpenAI API Key

  4. Paste your key into that box

  5. Click “Save Changes”

Once saved, your API key is now linked to your Plasfy account. You can now generate images without seeing the “Account Not Active” message.

Please Note: You Pay Per Image

Every image you generate in Version 3 will use your own OpenAI credits.
Since your API key is connected to your OpenAI account and your credit card, you’ll be charged directly by OpenAI based on your usage.

This is not billed by Plasfy — it’s handled entirely by OpenAI.

Still Confused?

Here are some common things that go wrong:

  • Didn’t add a payment method in OpenAI?
Your API key won’t work until you do.

  • Didn’t save the API key in your Plasfy profile?
Make sure you clicked "Save Changes" after pasting your key.

  • Wrong email or username?
Make sure you're using the same details you registered with.

  • Browser glitch?
Try logging out, clearing your browser cache, or using another browser.

Bonus Tip: Try Version 1 or 2 If You’re Still Having Trouble

You can always switch back to:

  • Version 2 – More features, no key required

  • Version 1 – Lightweight and simple

Choose the version that best suits your needs.

AI Graphics Factory Version 3 Docs:

Welcome to Plasfy AI Graphics Factory Version 3.0, now available in beta. This latest version introduces a more streamlined and simplified user experience, but as it is still in beta, you may encounter some issues or incomplete features. The focus of this release is on enhancing usability, with improvements underway, such as upgrading the Create Image drop-down to a more visual, user-friendly format, similar to what was available in Version 2.

For now, you have the flexibility to choose between Version 3Version 2, and Version 1, depending on your preferences and project needs:

  • Version 3 (Beta): Offers a simplified interface with basic functionality, but it’s still evolving and might not yet include all tools.

  • Version 2: A more stable release with additional tools and a visual drop-down menu for selecting image styles, though it may have occasional issues.

  • Version 1: Retains compatibility and offers core functionality for users who prefer earlier workflows.

We’re transitioning to Version 3 to address limitations and expand capabilities, but if you encounter challenges, earlier versions remain fully accessible for your projects. Thank you for your patience and feedback as we refine the platform!

Image Creation Options

  • What is a Prompt?: This is where you describe the specific image you want to create. Enter details such as "man on a beach in winter" to guide the AI.

  • Prompt History:

    • View your previously used prompts, complete with dates.

    • Reuse or edit prompts for new projects.

2. Prompt Generator

If you need help crafting a prompt:

  • Enter a starting word or phrase (e.g., man on beach in winter).

  • Choose a method for generating related ideas:

    • Broadly Related

    • Somewhat Related

    • Loosely Connected

  • 1792 x 1024

Generating Your Image

Once all options are set:

  1. Click Generate Image.

  2. The AI will create a high-quality graphic based on your inputs, ready for download or further customization.

Next Steps: Using Your Generated Images

Once you’ve clicked Generate Image, the AI Graphics Factory will process your input and deliver a high-quality image tailored to your prompt. Because AI Graphics Factory is hosted externally and not fully integrated into the main Plasfy dashboard, transferring your images between the two platforms is simple and flexible. Here's how to do it:

Inserting Images into Plasfy

  1. Option 1: Drag and Drop

    • Open both the AI Graphics Factory tab and your Plasfy editor tab.

    • Drag the generated image directly from AI Graphics Factory into the Plasfy editor canvas for seamless integration.

  2. Option 2: Copy and Paste

    • Right-Click on the generated image in the AI Graphics Factory and select Copy.

    • Navigate to the Plasfy editor, then press CTRL+V (or Command+V on Mac) to paste the image directly onto the canvas.

    • The image will also be automatically added to your Uploads folder for reuse.

Using Your Images Beyond Plasfy

While these images are perfect for enhancing your Plasfy designs, you can also use them in a variety of other applications:

  • Web Design: Upload them to your websites for striking visuals.

  • Graphic Design Tools: Integrate them into third-party design software.

  • Video Editing: Incorporate them into your video projects seamlessly.

This flexibility allows you to use AI Graphics Factory images across multiple platforms for all your creative needs.
